MAGIC OF THINKING BIG : NOW MORE THAN EVER

                                                                   A classic from 1959

THE MAGIC OF THINKING BIG by David Joseph Schwartz.  1959.  Foreword by Melvin Powers for those who remember back in the day.

A classic that might be even more relevant today.  We have some big challenges that will be met if our thoughts be big.  "Luck will often enough find a man if his courage hold"  (paraphrase of 13th Warrior and Norse lit)

The world of America, Canada, New Zealand and many others are passing away into nostalgia.  What is implied in the very etymology of 'nostalgia' is a longing for home but also the tonic of homecoming.  It might seem that the end of the trust in government with respect for their controls means the end of the West.  But we know the West is a creation of thinking and doing by real people. My long memory recalls that fearful times were  also grand times.  We  won against fearful odds.  We didn't KNOW we would win in that state of
induced fear and weak obedience by the masses.  But we did suspect we would win when sensing ethical action and making concerted ethical actions.

Today, I see people leaving the 'civilization' of draconian controls and starting over with brave land-taking in new and unfamiliar regions.  I also see those regions speaking to the hearts and minds of the new arrivals with a winning response to their hard work.  Alternative culture as a return to what's right is gaining ground by the new efforts of those who seem to have given up on governing bodies but are taking control of their own trajectory as a business endeavor.  Formerly militant and politicized sub-cultures are now eschewing nihilism and complaint by taking their actions into the worlds of business endeavor.  They seek to over rule the established order by BECOMING the ruling order in charge of economics, city council, and markets.

Entrepreneurial education is a vital function by those banned from more staid publicly funded arms of compliant national governments and U.N. or WHO regulated administrations.  The Millerman School of Michael Millerman and the Woodharrow Institute of Stephen E. Flowers are examples.

It's a tall order requiring the magic of thinking big.

Some of my geezer guidance from my roads not taken - - ignoring the message of thinking big cost me success, or at least a fair run at it.  I read Schwartz's work while starting in partnership business in a field that did not guarantee success.  Yet the collectible and antique market burgeoned to a lucrative field.  My own section of book sales lagged because I did not risk with capital and inventory.  Selling a few books that would make small changes in everyday lives seemed like enough.  And it was satisfying but this was about 1994 when Bezos was starting Amazon as a book selling platform.

Later in my cosmic career I started a prediction site - - which is still up today.  I limited myself to a few verifiable binary hit-or-miss predictions in selected sports events, stock market trends, politics, and world events.  Limited scope at different times that I could analyze and report easily.  Now here is a predictive site that shows how a market can more accurately predict trends than committees of 'experts.'  This site requires big thought about how to facilitate a large 'faculty' and clients makings bets on futures.  Fascinating big thinking.

I don't want to denigrate small initial efforts because action is more important than theory.  We have to start somewhere but we don't have to stop before thinking big.
