Thriving in the cold north reminds me of how practical and proactive we were in better times.  And must be again.


This season was arranged for indoor work.  Homes had been framed in and insulated through the last days of summer and fall.  In winter cabinets could be built, interior drywall and interior painting and refined design was was perfected.  Out of the cold weather.  The snowy outdoors were a time for enjoying mountain recreation, not a time to be digging a basement foundation or framing the walls of a home.  Years of living in Montana had taught some instinctual approaches to timing.

This is an e-book that combines two of my Conservative Tradition books with a dissident narrative about what went wrong and, most importatnly, how to make it right. The content began on the blogs, "My Alternative To Standardized Media" and "Retrofuturist America : A Montana Perspective." We know we can lead sovereign and meaningful lives because we have done it before.

This work was begun long before MAGA and long before it was suspected Donal Trump would be president. I will say that I had been an admirer of two or three of his non-politcal books and I knew the propaganda against him was wrong. Not my main theme because it is First Principles that we must pursue and not one individual personality. This is how we keep it going.

A TIME OF FOCUSED QUALITY

My father built a unique home of quality in the early 1950s  I remember various stages of the construction.  This is a photo of the home and Dad working on building it himself.  Also a photo of him helping to build for kindred and community in a small Montana town.  His craft is instructive to my own attempts at creativity with a few lessons in effort and ethics.  Notice that the forms are hand-built and there is concrete machinery in the vicinity.  There was no apprenticeship or training on how to do this.  They figured it out as they went.  Exemplary to my own efforts are my memories of my father's work ethic.  I doubt if he built the forms and said, "That's enough for today, time to be distracted until we pour the concrete tomorrow."  No, this delaying after initial efforts is more MY style.  Dad's days were long which did not mean he didn't enjoy time with family conversation and a little music.  The process of ...
